I was recently receiving a jury summons. Upon arrival to the courtroom, some 80 people were evenly spaced throughout the courtroom. By the time all was said and done, it was 2:30pm before the jury had been selected and I was released. During my little anticipatory stint, I started to become aware that the systematic tools being used by the lawyers interested me. I began to wonder if the science, psychology, and Hail Mary guesses incorporated ideas that could be implemented in other areas and industries.
A cursory search of the web shows 1,840,000 results. The top results are about how to ask questions of a potential juror. In my mind, creating an open conversation to test a juror’s honesty, is not much help or detail of the process. BTW: The case I “missed out” on. Hung jury.
